Développement is the agency of the Paris City Council and the Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, in charge of the capital's economic development. Its
general director, Hubert Duault, outlines its strategy regarding innovative
companies, and the contributions of Quatre Vents.What role does Paris Développement play for Parisian businesses? Hubert Duault : We have several roles. We promote the city's economy, prospect and welcome foreign companies setting up operations here, and foment entrepreneurship and development of innovative companies with strong growth potential. In fact, this last aspect is the area in which Quatre Vents assists us. How did your work with Quatre Vents start? HD : We launched a monthly event called "Mornings with Paris Technopole". We wanted to reinforce the possibilities for meetings and discussion with entrepreneurs and create a compulsory meeting place for the community of innovative companies in Paris. At this breakfast debate held on the last Tuesday of each month, we hear feedback from experts and personal experiences, and create a place for discussion and sharing experiences between entrepreneurs. How would you summarise your three years of working with Quatre Vents? HD : Our event has become an unmistakeable part of the local economic landscape. The Morning Debates now gather a group of regular participants. Last year, over 800 innovators met in this way, and now a genuine network is emerging and gaining impetus. Quatre Vents played more than a small role in this. Besides the event's impeccable organisation – from file and invitation management to preparing a summary of the event for a journalist – Quatre Vents provided its opinions on the positioning of this event and actively participated in the choice of topics with the working group. Additionally, in this moderately-sized company, we have found a partner that understands our constraints and the problems of innovative young companies, that we have limited resources but an unlimited desire to succeed! |
